jealousShe sits across him on their weekly get together sharing some food on a thursday night. He looks and scans the room every time she takes a bite from her favorite dish. She does the same. No apparent eye contact is evident. They must go out. It is a necessity for their marriage. When their eyes connect, they mutter some ridiculous small talk. I watch them closer than before.

I try to unravel the myths on this syndrome that couples go through for 80% of their life and still pretend they are sane. They stutter some more, and continue to eat away in total excitement. Excitement that can drive the dullest of animals under a speeding train to relieve themselves the agony of this boring couple.

Suddenly she stares my way, not that I’m mr. hot stuff, only the fact that I was in the way of her day dreaming daily ritual, she basically never knew I existed. Her husband knows nothing of these wondering eyes of his magical woman( actually a very pretty face, sad, yet still pretty) He suddenly makes his way to the mens room. He gets up and stares my way, looks me deep in the eyes, I stare back at his bad behavior.

He comes back and catches her wandering eyes pull away abruptly from my area. He suddenly realizes many things in the flash of a minute. He remembers that his wife was wonderful and beautiful, sexy and young at heart, attractive and a magnet for men. He remembers that he loved her, he could not live without her, he remembers his 3 kids back home and how she still maintains her physique in tip top shape, competing with his 17 year old daughter.

To him I have become the worst threat. To him I must be destroyed and at the same time time be shown who she truly wants and needs. Who she is tied to. Who takes her home at night. Then he remembers he was an ass for so long, she would never show him those moves she used to make to piss off the other men and make him a proud hubby.

He must use force, he looks at me as if snaring, he frowns, growls, he points to her to get moving. He tries to cover her body from me as she leaves, making sure I don’t get a wide angle view of her rear end backing away from the table.

The amount of looks we men give each other in falsified jealousy acts simply make me laugh my head off. The looks we men get from married woman sitting next to

dead slabs of meat called husbands with a big” AHH! I miss being single” written all over her face.

If I only knew then that this jerk next to me was going to be worse than my worst expectations. If only he meant those jealous moves and looks, if only.

I’m a Happy dreamer I believe in love!

We in the Arab world have a saying” May a needle poke the eye of a jealous man” excuse me dear friends if my translation is a bit lame, but It’s the underlying message I wish to pass on and get more perspective on.To give you a better understanding of the saying and why it is around for oh so many years I dare not wonder in history to find its origins, I do know it was widely known during pharoe times in egypt, so I would guess more than 6000 years is close. I dare to speak of this casual social enemy freely due to its reality and would like to get feedback from the western world on the same issue.

The following example is a real life example happening every day for as long as I remember:

  • An Arab mother is shopping for her 1 year old baby boy in London while she is pushing him in his stroller, he is awake and kicking with joy at the sight of people and lights  and the continuous movement. Another woman comes up and stares at her baby boy and screams out how wonderful he is and how beautiful big eyes he has, what a wonderful happy baby she adds, the mother is happy thanks her for her nice remarks and continues shopping. The same woman comes to Jeddah,Saudi Arabia, same situation and same thing happens to her in a mall, she will turn away and start reciting some holy Quran to sway away the ladies evil jealous eye, and maybe sacrifice a goat in the process to keep harm away from her loved one. Now I did say evil eye, how do I know? How does the mother know? its real my friends.
  • A man pulls up with his brand new shiny black BMW, nice black leather seats and a complete individual options package. His friend sees him in his new car, smiles at him and whispers something only he could hear. 5 minutes later this new car has a dent caused by a reckless shopper at the supermarket parking space. A dent that only could be removed by a new paint job, not a chip repair. The owner of the car says” its a good thing that happened!, should keep the eye of jealous people off my back for a while”

I have heard stories of people in my country that can flip cars at fast speeds and have seen tv programs on the subject. I have seen ladies wear a certain blue eye to keep away these evil forces. I know Quran recitations that help us battle such sick people. They say some have it and know it, and others don’t know they have it, but wonder why their friends are all dying or getting crippled or blind? I swear I used to know someone who could say a word Like “ EHIB!” to guy waterskiing and see him fly of the thing flipping like a dolphin. I know it exists, but why do we have it more here than there?

  • Why do we know that a foreign woman or man is sincere in his words and our fellow people hide intentions? why hate when you can actually be neutral, not love!
  • Why do we seek others fortunes and say that they stole it? Why do we see a success and shower her with doubt? Why do we look for the little black spot on a crisp white shirt when we could compliment the whole package?
  • Why is envy a BIG thing in our society? Why do we still see people hiding their possessions afraid of the evil eye?Now this could be true in foreign lands like Asia or Africa for sure, but why do I feel it more here than there?

Did you know that when you actually, truly, deeply, honestly wish the people good things, good returns the favor in your face? Do these sick people know that they are spreading hatred among one another? Why can’t they ask how instead of wish them bad? Why not be humble if you can’t take the heat of other peoples things and hard earned bounties?

I wrote this article to stir the minds of people and see the power of the subconscious mind. In some cases I can actually see the facial expressions transform in front of me when I talk about a milestone covered or new thing bought. Their face seems to be in shock at first, then they realize it( too late, the haters!) and transform it into an ugly shaped smile, you know the one where they don’t actually open their mouth, and bend their head in approval.

Nothing is more gratifying than a clean soul big on other peoples happiness.

I have to be honest here when I talk about this delicate and human instinct that both sexes face and go through in life. I have had my share of jealousy from past encounters and on a personal level I had to tame my vicious instinct at an early age to manage it so that it does not manage me.Given my tribal background  I have a high level of jealousey and I have witnessed myself go overboard and hurt some people along the way. Over the years I have tamed the beast to my liking and made it apparant in my way of life.

To love you have to be jealous they say, i understand that but too much of a instinct can kill such a marvelous thing called Love.I will argue the subject in another post, but this one goes to my darling daughter, my guardian angel, Leen.

As i live alone and she comes and lives with me several days a week, i seem to have forgotten that there are other people in my home so I dress casually if you may. To be honest a bit to casual. Some prefer shorts, some pyjamas, some Jalabias, and me… Boxers and a t-shirt will do me fine.

Last week I was dressed casual, a bit over casual i just arrived home and was getting ready to leave again so i took off my jeans and was in my really tight, short boxers( sorry for the X-Rated discription lol, bare with me) and was walking around the house picking up the pieces and things I needed and there was my angel in front of me asking me to join her in her room to show me something she has. So along we were walking and then she shocked me with an early warning of things to come from this cute girl of mine.

” Daddy please wear some pants before you come to my room, my dada Angie( her baby sitter) is in my room!”How innocent and how jealous can an angel be? I obeyed her command and was sent directly to my dressing room to be more presentable and respectful and put on my jeans, and only then was I allowed to enter her magical kingdom. So you see girls will be girls, boys will be lousy boys, I guess boys feel the same levels of jealousy only at the age of 11 to 12 my baby is 5.
