I will survive
Go on now go walk out the door, just turn around now,’cause you’re not welcome anymore, weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye, you think I’d crumble, you think I’d lay down and die,Oh no, not I,I will survive,as long as i know how to love,I know I will stay alive,I’ve got all my life to live,I’ve got all my love to give, and I’ll survive,I will survive.
If I can name one song on this planet of ours that will get any girl/lady/female on her feet in less than a split second, it is “ I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Described as the Queen of Disco, her song is the most played Karaoke song in the world( The Mirror newspaper) and it has been 30 years or so since its release, WoW!
Let’s try to investigate the why? why this hype? why this love affair? why do girls just lose themselves when they hear the tune?why do they appear to be living it when it plays?why do they melt as if it is a hot oven?why do they sometimes cry? why do they reveal their feelings with the guard on OFF mode? even if she is with her new boyfriend…
I can imagine her boyfriend watching her going with the flow, losing her religion, feeling every word and emphasizing certain others, crying as she sings it, making weird faces after putting on several poker faces throughout this relatively new relationship, and then she sits down and pretends nothing happened after the song ends.
“ You like the song?”
“ Not really, actually a little”
“ but you were like a woman on steroids a minute ago, how can it be only that?”
“ well let’s not go there, I hate men!”
“OH OK, a bad experience?”
“ What do you mean?, Your the first I ever knew!”… Ok I don’t like that part, let’s say she didn’t say that and she actually admitted to her previous heart break hotel suite.
“So this song brings out the frustration?”
“ Well not really, It kind of makes me feel stronger in the face of feelings, I can be me and move on, I am strong, invincible, I have a great future in front of me”
“ So did you love him?”
“ Yes, very much!”
“ and?”
” No one deserves me, I am too precious, men are @#$holes!”
“ not all, I’m sure there a few good ones out there”
” the good ones are taken” you know the flow of things from here on.
So ladies, please tell me, and explain the love for this song in particular, I have met some women who have never had a heart break but love it? what does it release in you girls? Is it that powerful? does it do the job? does it make you stronger? help me in answering the questions to Adam’s descendants.
Now you guys, do we men have a similar song that makes us jump up and move in all directions as if we are some duracell bunny with twin turbo power?
Go girls Go! You will survive.
