Personal Skills

When someone comes to me with a cv and it has “computers, internet, swimming, football” put in the other skills area, I just laugh.

If we take them one by one;

Computers;

what are you? do you write programs or do you make them? do you install networks, are you an IT guy? or is it because you surf the web on weekends you think you are a pro? Never put that as a skill, get over it!

Internet:

What are you saying here? i can’t hear you? aha! you know how to surf the net! oh and you do tricks too? when I get people like this i ask and mine into the subject to show how dumb it is to say internet! and in the end they say that they “chat”.

Swimming:

Apply for a job at Sea World.

Football:

when I see you on TV in a football game, then you can say that you are skilled. Or maybe the interviewer can be invited to a game to watch you play soccer and cheer you” Go Interviewee Go!”

Your personal skills should reflect your true capabilities that make sense to the job you are applying for. for example if you can :

speed read
speed type
fix computer problems
write
speak in front of an audience
sell products
marketing skills
networking and connections
telephone skills
correspondence skills
travel experience
leadership
managing people
interview skills
investment skills

Never go with the flow and ask your friends what they put in the other interests area, always revise your capabilities.
get my drift?
