Is this a good time for Jeddah city to have a competitive identity?

The quick answer is YES!

If you want to believe that it is time for us to give our city a great polish and really all pitch in with the efforts being laid for the future then check this out;

1- The growing power of the International media driven by a more informed and news-hungry audience.
2- The falling cost of international travel, the rising spending power of the middle class and its search for new experiences.
3-An ever more tightly linked global economic system, thus places need to market themselves to the International arena.
4-A range of consumer products sourced from an ever wider pool of countries increases the need to build the trust in both companies and country of origin, hence; Made in JAPAN or CHINA? For now that is ;-)
5- Countries, regions and cities are competing more fiercely and intensely for talented immigrants, whether foreign or returning members after years of living outside their borders due to insufficient everything!
6-The currently depressed popularity of American culture, policies, products and services will create a vacuum in the global marketplace for clearly positioned places with real competitive advantages.
7- The majority of the population is under 20 years old! Shouldn’t we put these youth into the proper channels for the future, which is only 10 years away?
8- The increase in information and the mobile staffers who seem to be following the money and easy business set up cities like DUBAI? Can we not change faster to keep these workers?
9- The opening up of boundaries and the privatizations of companies in our country is it enough and fast enough?
10- The available capital and the increasing oil prices will for sure buy us the best technology on Earth; can we not arm ourselves with these technologies and stand out? Did we not learn a lesson from the Far East when they crashed and rebounded?
