Reinvention is a big word. It scares some, tickles other peoples fancy, misses many who choose to walk close to the wall never knowing what awaits them. Every once in a while you hear someone breaking from the pack, avoiding and not paying attention to the nay sayers and optimism slayers, they just keep moving on up!

What does it take to break from the pack and live the way you love, for the rest of your living days and in the process leave a legacy behind, or at least be remembered by your family, relatives and friends, or better yet the whole community.

What do you when you face service and product inconveniences? like the stewardess on my flight today who did not have my newspaper, had only one choice of breakfast, non of the bread I like, insisted on giving me reasons that we can’t satisfy every passenger you know! management doesn’t listen, blah, blah, blah..I just laughed at this one, cause I gave up on our local airlines 30 years ago.. many new airlines jumped to the occasion ages ago, my dollars go to much better airlines, that is not my case today..

As I checked the mirror one more time to look my best (which somehow seemed to have changed over the years from that teenager look) and checked my mobile, cards, you know the old peoples stuff, I walked the walk to the ballroom.

As I approached the ballroom the guards were everywhere, it was a special evening you see. The governor of our city was coming to give a speech and shed some wisdom on our group of grads who seem to still stick together somehow or the other, he said” we are the people that run the city now” how uplifting is that? the sad thing is, we are the grown ups now!

They say when you focus on something you get to see or feel it more, like the new car you want suddenly its everywhere, or the family vacation that is all over the news, as if its the only thing people are talking about, or the nagging boss that seems to haunt your dreams, just a few examples to refresh your memory of the strange things we take for granted and don’t know what to make of them.

A fine use of the word “INSTEAD”;

• Instead of wondering why you hit that car and ruined your new toy, think how lucky you are to be alive, and while steel remains steel, blood is thicker than water, water is life and you my friend are alive to breath and walk another day.

“Mama always told me don’t go around breaking young girls hearts” Billie Jean, Michael Jackson. Well I want to ask Mama about the flip side of the coin, what happens when a young boys heart is broken? who do I file a complaint to? who will comfort me? Why is it always the girls that get heart broken? is it not a woman’s world today? so eventually all the manly bullying will be handled by the girls..hence the increase in mens heart breaks.

The other day I had a very intellectual conversation with a very wise and wonderful person who pointed out a sad-kind-of-true fact. She said that the girls take a hit in the love scene and stand up after a while and fall in love again. The boys on the other hand fall in love, get beaten down, never fall in love again, they suddenly become players, with some examples of people. The others just shy away, get married, have children, and die.

Now I know that could be an exaggeration, even with exaggerations you find a percentage of reality, and this time its a big one. But my argument is that its not that at all, the reason why guys turn into players or non believers in true love are many, let me shed some light;

Imagine if I told you the man was crossing the highway and got hit head on! you would know he’s a goner, unless what hit him was his conscious and suddenly woke up to reality and ran back to the curb.

What if someone whispered to you that the CEO was told to leave, you always imagine him being booted out of his position for bad performance, but then again what if he was told to move out of his position to chairman? makes you think!

When that neighbor had his possessions repossessed and his car withdrawn in front of his family, you knew he was out. Then you look at the newspaper and see the very man being honored for his new company that solved the cities sewage problem in 3 months,(its been a problem for 25 years now) he had to risk it all, to win it all, makes you wonder what you really know.

Definition: A curved piece of wood; when properly thrown will return to thrower, invented by the Egyptians or other civilization, made famous in Australia.

The boomerang I’m referring to here is the other kind. The one that goes like this when your pissed at someone “ What goes around, comes around” no one said it and meant it better than Justin. So if we were to shed some light on a delicate subject like this we would try and make it as easy as possible, how? examples!

1. How many times did I rehearse and define my sales presentation before giving it?
2. How many books did I read ( and re-read ) about my industry/career/service/skills?
3. How much time do I spend each day in the gym, and how many days each week, to keep myself physically fit?
4. How many thank you notes and follow up emails do I send to important customers, clients, volunteers, or friends?
5. How much of my income do I invest in myself to further my vocation and my passion?

You can breath. You are OK. You can see. You can hear. You can feel. You can imagine things. You can walk. You can run.You can swim. You can survive. You made it through life to another day. You can read. You can write. You can talk. You can understand. You can move. You can decide. You can think. You can remember. You can learn. You can educate yourself. You can be anyone you want to be. You can pack up and leave. You are free. You can drive, fly, dive. You can laugh. You can cry. You can sing. You can love. You can be loved. You can play in the sand.You can taste. You can sense.
