2 Facebook or not 2 Facebook? that was my question

In life & marketing I consider myself a leader of the pack, a tester of new ideas, a person that will check consequences as I go along, the thrill of being first excites me. If I can afford it, I use it, if I can’t I await the next big thing coming my way, if its free and wicked like Facebook, I attack with full force. That’s me, a sucker for new & innovative, its my way of saying thank you to the genius behind the idea.

I think that the thrill fades away after a while and in its place sinks reasoning and new perspectives, outlooks, understandings, change and a whole bunch of other stuff, but I still love Facebook for all its worth.

I recently deactivated my account for various reasons which I shall share the outlines only, I believe this way you too will get a better understanding of the things that surround us. To take a look at the things Facebook does, lets look at the way and why to get to the bottom of this.

I made a little list of the things people use Facebook for to simplify the matter, forget the conspiracy theories and marketing sabotage they have been accused with, just isolate the uses and means that people surf Facebook.

• Staying in touch: Its nice to get back in touch and stay in touch even on a virtual basis with old & new friends.
• Status updates: Broadcasting whats on your mind, sharing some information, showing off, blasting your girlfriend, letting off steam, throwing an idea in the air,peer support, sharing a laugh or joke, getting feedback.
• Other uses by the others: Spying on people, spying on spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends/workers and many others, using fake id’s to get what they want.
• The bad things about it are too many to note today but here are some to see if you have faced them on Facebook;

• I know someone who posed as a girl and used her to steal business ideas, business contacts, market information, get girls to befriend him, speak his sick mind and so on.
• I know someone who made people on TV believe he was a decent religious person while he chased after girls while being married!
• I know of a person who uses a fake account, even on his relatives to see what they are doing, only because he was a sick individual, these are by the dozen!
• I know people secretly embedded in everyones list to keep track of their every move.
• I know many girls married and single searching for their dream man, failing and falling and maybe one day succeeding.
• I know many guys who just sit and watch while all the fun happens around them.
• I know kids thinking Facebook is a pick up place only.
• I know people who seem to spill their heart out to whoever befriends them and confides in them.
• I know group addicts who seem to be on every known group there is and never add value to one.
• I know people who are afraid of being on Facebook, so they create a new identity and see what they are like if not known!
• I know of people who just sit and watch what others do, just like some deep sea fish with those attracting lights, not a move, not a breath, not a reply to a comment, you see they believe that way they can just pick what they want without anybody thinking they are active, sick.
• I know of people who try to test ideas on their friend list.
• I know people who add anyone and anything that has a vibe to their list, some have more than 3000 names.
• I know of people who use it to feel good about themselves, the more the list, the more the comments without reply, the better they feel.
• I know people who only want to push what they produce, like sick writers, when you post they remove, when you engage on their wall they show up, especially if its a female.
• I know of all kinds of people doing all kinds of things all over Facebook, in the end its what you make of it.
• I know of people who pick up beautiful pictures and after a short while believe they are those impostors, why play with peoples feelings?
• I know of great people that engage others on Facebook, I will miss them all, and will try my best to stay in touch with the best, never forgetting to delete the rest while I take a rest ;-)

In the end, all that matters is what you use it for and how often you use it, how much time you invest or waste on it, how clear about who you are and what you attract, how well you treat your friends, Facebook is what you make it.

I know I will be back one day, depending on my goals in life, and my dreams, and my ambitions, and my other life engagements I guess it will be soon if all works out faster than anticipated :-)
